"No problem." Steve answered, not at all phased with the way Tony suddenly distanced himself. Or, maybe it wasn't really distance as opposed to needing to maintain some kind of masked strength; the kind of strength that preserved the reputation and dignity men held onto. Anyway, they'd had their breakthrough "talk" before he left five months prior. That was the turning point in knowing the real Tony Stark.
Without moving, Steve turned his head towards the door. "Anyway, I'll be upstairs if you need me for anything. We can talk more.." Steve swallowed. Saying 'when you get settled back in' was just wrong. If he had any kind of control, made a deal with someone to make sure Tony was never brought back, he would've done it without question.
